About Me
Writing bios about myself is always most challenging as I am a self proclaimed "seriel hobbyist" - I'm endlessly curious, adventurous, and an autodidact. I never stop learning! I adore working with my hands, everything from simple crafts, to calligraphy (picked that up at 12 believe it or not!) and all the way to at home DIY and renovations, and rebuilding computers. I used to manage salons and spas for about 5 years, and then transitioned to work in property management (multifamily rentals and associations) for 7 years. Both absolutely exhausted me! My dream is to go to a school or program to get into the tech industry, mostly because I love all things tech, but also because I truly want to be able to work on my own time and be location independent! {On that note, long distance is definitely ON the table, and perhaps preferred at the time(?) Or rather, long distance and travel companionship is best preference for myself - not the end all, be all though ๐)
I am a music and arts lover... No, worshipper! I began dance lessons at age 4 and officially retired after a stint as a ballet dancer with my local city ballet and instructor. I am a multi-instrumentalist (piano, drums, flute, guitar - although fun fact, I rarely ever read music! I play by ear.) From a young age I fell in love with swing dancing and want to get back into that! I arguably have the broadest taste in music of anyone I've ever met. I truly enjoy going to concerts and shows and enjoy most, going to small shows of brand new artists I've never heard; I hold fast to the belief that there's nothing better than live music.
I love doing yoga, have been an active yogi for a decade and a half, and have recently taken up aerial arts. I love the outdoors and go camping and hiking as often as I can - I love hunting down all the waterfalls in my local area wherever I am.
When it comes to sports, I grew up as a dancer, I also played volleyball, softball, and tennis; I also spent 3 years coaching my younger brother's baseball team back when I was in college, and I have spent tons of years being a dance instructor to all age groups too. Watching any sports game be it on TV or attending events in person is always a fun time I say YES to! I must confess that I'm just now learning to understand basketball and learning to develop a taste for it, because in all truth, I'm born and bred Minnesotan, so HOCKEY is my absolute favorite!! I love, love, love hockey games! I'd like to get more into soccer, or rather, the real football ๐ I'm also a huge fanatic for the Olympics!
I adore traveling, however haven't yet left the country and quite honestly need to see this world! I love linguistics and learning new languages and cultures. I've also recently took up learning Latin. I study Spanish for 10 or so years, but I don't have anyone to speak it with so I fear I've lost my abilities there, but am always seeking to take it back up!
I'm absolutely an animal lover! I have two cats - They are my pride and joy! โค๏ธ I also love volunteering - I mostly volunteer at animal shelters and with local community programs that serve the elderly (my favorite was something called the Block Nurse Program, they work to help keep seniors living in their homes independently longer, so I was an exercise buddy doing home visits and exercises for fall prevention and then also just companionship.)
I enjoy spending time going out for good food and I fashion myself a novice wine and spirit snob, I love mixing classic cocktails at home to pair with my cooking. I definitely am a coffee snob and have been ever since I worked my first job and was classically trained as a barista! (Another confession: I have had Folgers instant coffee all week long this week though! Eek!)
In school I studied Justice and Peace Studies, Sociology, and Philosophy - I would love to just be a professional observer and researcher of humans :)
I've recently been getting back into my philosophy studies too! Also worth noting, I'm definitely a nerd at heart! Ask me anything about Game of Thrones... If you dare! I've created 3 versions of an interactive viewers guide even lol. But I have a penchant for classic movies and shows as well. Elvis movies on Sundays are great, and I love listening to modern and classic comics too.
Hmmm... There's definitely so much more to me as a person, but perhaps that's best left to be learned by way of conversation? :)
